Affordable Housing
Chapter 40(B) is a flawed law that had good intentions but became a vehicle for fraud, waste and abuse by developers, much of it discussed on the Massachusetts Office of the Inspector General’s website. Because the general population believes that Chapter 40(B) provides 100% affordable housing instead of just 25% affordable housing, it will remain a difficult law to repeal and replace or amend.
I will continue the work being done to repeal and replace or amend Chapter 40(B). In addition to this I will work with the towns to create subsidized affordable housing that does not bring with it the pressures of overdevelopment but does answer a very real need for affordable homes.
